Aloha and welcome to the Reds Alert Podcast web site. Why aloha? Well that’s how I start every episode of the podcast and every interview I do. That’s because, while I was born in Ohio, Hawaii is my home.
My name is Steven Offenbaker and I’m based on the Big Island of Hawaii where I enjoy the land of sunshine and beaches with my three daughters. I feel very fortunate to be able to live in this place and to be able to raise my girls here where they can explore their Native Hawaiian heritage.
Starting this podcast has been very exciting for me. It really has allowed me to find a new creative outlet that I have been missing for years. I am a veteran of the sports page, having covered sports for publications in Texas, California, and Hawaii. Additionally, I have served as “on air staff” at various radio stations in Ohio, Texas, California, and Hawaii.
I’m bringing all those years of experience to this podcast in the hopes of sharing my love for baseball and the nation’s oldest professional franchise, the Cincinnati Reds, to my fellow fans everywhere.
The concept for this podcast is a simple one. Each week we will review the week prior to recording and talk about the Reds games, any noteworthy off field activity, and anything interesting that may be happening throughout Major League Baseball.
We will work to line up guests that love the Reds as much as we do. From Reds insiders, to famous fans, to the average joe that loves the game, we are going to try to talk to them all along the way.
Each podcast episode will wrap up with a preview of the coming week in Reds baseball. We will look at pitching matchups and discuss the upcoming series’ so that you are prepared for all the baseball action to come.
We hope that our listeners will engage with us about what they are listening to, what they like, and even ideas for things they would like to have included in the podcast. We will take comments and questions here on this blog, on our twitter account @redsalertpod, and by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are glad you are here and we do look forward to hearing from you. Go Reds, Aloha, and A Hui Hou.
